Easy Asterisms: Teapot, Triangle, & the Great Square
Every year in August and September, some of the most well-known asterisms are visible from our skies in Missouri. Some of these asterisms are the teapot in Sagittarius, the Summer Triangle, and the Great Square of Pegasus.
Sagittarius (The Teapot) - View the teapot low in the southern sky around 9-10pm.
The Great Square - View the square in Pegasus in the northeast after 10pm. Pegasus will continue rising higher in the eastern sky as autumn approaches.
Summer Triangle - The Summer Triangle is formed from the three bright stars Vega (Lyra), Deneb (Cygnus), and Altair (Aquila). View the triangle high overhead during August and September.
