2024-2025 Homeschool Programs

Are you a small group or individual homeschool family? We are now offering regularly scheduled homeschool programs for co-ops and groups around mid-Missouri. Each show includes a short lesson, group demonstrations, and a full-dome program. Every visitor will receive some at-home activities to take with them after the show.

Program Cost: $5 per person

*Children 3 and under are free.
Payment is due at the time of the show. We only accept cash or checks at this time. Make any checks payable to Columbia Public Schools.

  • Shows begin promptly at 1pm. If you arrive late, you will not be admitted to the show. We recommend arriving about 10 minutes early to check-in.

  • There is a maximum capacity of 85 - including children and adults - for each program.

  • Registration closes 1 week before the scheduled program.

Constellations of Winter

Visitors will be introduced to constellations, how make shapes in the stars, and what constellations are visible during the winter season. Finish your constellation search by learning the Greek myth of Orion the Hunter. All attendees will receive a winter constellation map for mid-Missouri and night sky scavenger hunt.
*This program is best for visitors of all ages, from 4-104.

Cosmic Trio: Earth, Moon, and Sun

Investigate the relationship between the Earth, Moon, and Sun in this program. You’ll do some “kinesthetic astronomy” to learn about the Earth’s rotation, revolution, and the lunar phases. To conclude the program, watch Chronicle of a Journey to Earth to summarize what you have learned. All attendees will receive an activity packet including crafts and worksheets to practice their knowledge.
*This program is best for elementary and middle school, ages 6-14.
