The Columbia Public Schools (CPS) Planetarium, featuring a full-dome projection system, a sky full of brilliant stars and an ever-growing library of entertaining and educational shows, treats visitors to a unique view of the universe in which we live.
Summer hours for the Planetarium: The planetarium will be open June 11, 2016 and August 13, 2016 for public shows, but the planetarium will be closed the rest of the summer. We will start taking group reservations again in September.
The Columbia Public School District has faithfully supported the planetarium since its opening in 1974 and a recent wave of community support has completely revitalized this 40-year-old facility. The result:
- A new full-dome projection system
- New shows
- New theater-style seating
- New carpeting
- and the first-ever regularly scheduled public programs
